Choosing a Bulk or Shop Coffee Grinder

Build the grinder station around the order

A bulk grinder prepares coffee for a bag or brewing vessel. Its workflow differs from a timed espresso grinder that delivers a programmed dose into a portafilter. Start with your typical bag size, largest consecutive order and how often staff change beans or grind settings.

      • Batch size: match the intake and grinding platform to the amount you prepare at once.
      • Grind range: choose equipment that supports the methods your customers brew, then establish tested starting settings for each.
      • Counter access: allow room to load beans, position a bag, operate the controls and clean the outlet.
      • Operating intervals: follow the manufacturer's duty cycle. A reference output figure is not a promise of unrestricted continuous operation.

Compare Compak Shop and Bulk Grinders

      Model Burr platform Workflow
Compak R8 Eco 83mm flat burrs A dedicated retail bag-grinding station with a smaller body than the R120.
Compak PK100 Shop 98mm flat burrs A shop hopper, adjustable outlet and bag clip for a counter that serves different brewing methods.
Compak R120 Eco 120mm flat burrs A larger platform and hopper for larger consecutive bag orders.

Visit each product page for model-specific dimensions, instructions, diagrams and videos. Burr diameter is one part of the decision; intake, outlet arrangement and service routine also matter.

      Bulk and Shop Grinder FAQs

Do these grinders weigh each bag?

The models in this collection do not provide an integrated bag-weighing system. Weigh the coffee for the order with an appropriate scale and follow the grinder's operating procedure.

Can a bulk grinder also grind for espresso?

The listed Compak models offer a broad grind range that includes espresso. That does not make the bag-grinding layout equivalent to an on-demand espresso station. Choose around how staff will collect and measure the grounds.

Can I change between drip, French press and espresso?

Use recorded settings as starting points, then check the result with the actual coffee and brewer. Follow the manual when adjusting, and clear or purge the grinding path as needed between changes.

Is the PK100 Single Dose the same as the PK100 Shop?

They share a burr platform but use different intake configurations. The Shop is the relevant choice here for a larger hopper and shop workflow. For weighing a small portion of beans before each grind, explore Single Dose Grinders.

Which model is best for a busy shop?

Compare the largest run of orders, bag size, grind settings and available space. A daily bag count alone does not describe peak demand. Discuss those details with our team before selecting a grinder.
