Compak R120 Eco: larger-batch grinding for the retail counter
The Compak R120 Eco is a bulk coffee grinder for a retail counter that regularly fills bags and needs a larger grinding platform. Its 120mm flat burrs and 2.2kg hopper distinguish it from the smaller R8, while a bag-focused outlet keeps the workflow centered on the customer’s coffee order.
R-series grinders cover a broad range of grind settings, including espresso and filter. Their role differs from a timed espresso grinder: grinding a retail bag for a customer is a different task from delivering a programmed dose directly into a portafilter.
Choose the grinder around the bag order
Think about typical bag size, the largest consecutive order and how often staff switch between grind settings. A broad dial helps staff return to recorded settings, but the result still depends on the coffee and the customer’s brewer. Establish starting points with test brews rather than treating a printed setting as a universal recipe.
Plan space for the whole operation
Allow room below the outlet to place and remove the bag, plus overhead access for loading beans. Keep coffee changes, outlet clearing and scheduled cleaning in the service routine. Observe the operating intervals in the manual; reference output figures do not promise uninterrupted production.

Which Compak fits your workflow?

Frequently asked questions
Can it grind fine enough for espresso?
The R-series manual includes espresso in the grind range. Its bag-grinding layout, however, does not provide the same programmed portafilter workflow as an E6, E8 or E10.
Is the R120 just a larger hopper on an R8?
No. The R120 has a 120mm burr platform versus the R8’s 83mm burrs, along with a larger body. Compare the whole operating setup and peak batch requirements, not only hopper capacity.
Does it dispense a programmed weight into each bag?
This listing is a bulk grinder, not an integrated bag-weighing system. Weigh the coffee for the order and use the operating procedure for your model.
Can I switch between French press, drip and espresso settings?
The range supports different methods. Record tested starting points and clear or purge the grinding path as needed between changes. Follow the manual’s adjustment procedure, especially when moving finer.
Can it run continuously all day?
Use the duty cycle and rest intervals in the supplied manual. A commercial bulk grinder’s reference production is not an unrestricted continuous-duty rating.
Is the newer iR series the same as this Eco listing?
Compak’s current website may also show newer iR configurations. Match dimensions, hopper and electrical details to the R8 Eco or R120 Eco being supplied rather than transferring every current-family feature.
Which setup video and manual apply?
The R-series manual below covers several retail models, including the R8 and R120. Use the diagrams and technical column for your model. The official quick-start video is a helpful overview, with the supplied manual as the operating reference.
