      Choosing your equipment

Cold-brew equipment includes immersion systems and slow-drip towers, two methods with different preparation routines. This collection currently features Yama cold-drip towers in different sizes. Compare serving volume, available height, filter requirements and the amount of attention you want to give each batch before choosing.

      Understand immersion versus ice drip

Immersion cold brew steeps ground coffee in water before filtration. A cold-drip or ice-drip tower meters water through a bed of coffee into a lower vessel. The methods differ in equipment, preparation and flavor development; a tower is not simply a larger immersion container.

Size the batch by actual beverage volume

Compare the listed vessel volume and recommended coffee dose rather than relying only on a cup-count label. Decide whether you want a ready-to-drink recipe or a concentrate that will be diluted. Leave room for recipe experimentation and consider how much you will realistically serve while fresh.

      Check tower clearance and handling

A drip tower needs a stable, level surface and enough vertical clearance to fill and remove its components. Consider how you will carry and clean the glass vessels and where the equipment will live between batches. Match filters and replacement glass to the exact tower model.

      Make the recipe repeatable

Record coffee mass, water mass, grind setting and preparation time. On a drip tower, check flow during the batch because it can change as the water level changes. Keep finished coffee refrigerated in a clean, covered container and use an appropriate food-handling process for your setting.

Cold Brew Coffee Makers, Toddy & Ice Drip Brewers FAQs

Is a Yama tower the same as a Toddy brewer?

No. Yama towers shown here use a slow-drip format; Toddy-style systems use immersion. Check the product listing for the actual brand, method and included components.

Does cold brew have to be made with ice?

No. Immersion cold brew does not require ice. For an ice-drip tower, follow the model’s instructions for the water and ice arrangement and desired flow.

Should I use a very coarse grind?

Use the brewer’s suggested starting range, then adjust for flow and taste. The best setting depends on the method, filter and coffee rather than a universal cold-brew grind.

How long does a cold-brew batch take?

Time depends on the method, recipe and equipment. Use the brewer’s instructions as the starting point and record your result instead of treating one duration as correct for every system.

Can I serve cold brew in a café?

Yes, with equipment and a food-handling plan suited to the operation. Confirm cleaning, refrigeration, batch tracking and local requirements before choosing a commercial production process.
