Compak PK100 Shop: 98mm grinding for a coffee retail counter
The Compak PK100 Shop brings 98mm blind flat burrs to a retail or multi-method coffee station. Its larger hopper, bag clip and adjustable outlet support a different routine from the PK100 Single Dose: keep more coffee at the intake and grind for a bag or brewing vessel.
The front micrometric dial makes the setting visible and easy to record. Compak describes a range from Turkish coffee through espresso and filter to French press. Each brew method still needs its own recipe and calibration; a broad range does not make one setting suitable for everything.
Understand the dial and the grinding path
The PK100’s scale is a mechanical grind-setting reference. A number on the dial is not a measurement of every particle coming out of the burrs, and it is not a laboratory particle-size result. Record useful settings, then verify them with the coffee and recipe you are using.
Low retention needs a consistent routine
The outlet, knocker and grind path are designed to help move coffee through the grinder. Low retention is not zero retention. Weigh the input and output when establishing your routine, and allow for a purge after a substantial setting or coffee change. Two cooling fans and a cast-aluminum body are part of the PK platform.

Manufacturer documents span different regional and hardware revisions. Hopper capacity, motor ratings and RPM should be matched to the supplied unit; a global 900rpm figure is not a universal U.S. specification.
Which Compak fits your workflow?
| Model | What changes | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| PK100 Single Dose | Single-dose intake; 622mm published height | You weigh a portion and change coffees frequently. |

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the PK100 Shop and Single Dose?
Both use the PK100’s 98mm burr platform and broad grind range. The main buying distinction is intake and workflow: a single-dose / cupping hopper versus the larger Shop hopper. Current published overall heights are 622mm and 690mm respectively.
Can it grind both espresso and filter coffee?
Yes. Compak lists a range from Turkish through French press. Save a starting setting for each method, purge as needed after a large adjustment, and fine-tune using the actual brew result.
Does a dial setting of 400 mean all grounds are 400 microns?
No. The dial is an adjustment reference. Coffee grounds have a distribution of particle sizes; a setting is not a measurement of that distribution.
Is it a zero-retention grinder?
Compak positions the PK100 around low retention. Some coffee can remain in the grinding path, so use a consistent outlet-clearing routine and check input versus output rather than expecting an unconditional zero.
Can I switch between decaf and regular coffee?
The broad workflow permits changing beans, but carryover is still possible. Clean and purge appropriately; use dedicated equipment where strict separation is important.
Is the motor speed variable?
The PK100 is not presented as a user-variable-speed grinder. The family manual lists different fixed speeds by electrical version, including 1,100rpm at 110V/60Hz and 900rpm at 230V/50Hz. Use the specification for the supplied unit.
Will it fit under a kitchen cabinet?
Measure carefully. The current published height is about 27.17 inches for the Shop, before allowing room to add beans and use the controls. Its 252 × 328mm base is only part of the space required.
Can I replace the hopper to convert between versions?
Do not assume that every hopper, fitting or revision is interchangeable. Confirm the exact part against the model and serial number before planning a conversion.
