Compak E8 OD LLS: 83mm burrs for a demanding espresso bar
The Compak E8 OD LLS is built around 83mm flat steel burrs and a hopper-fed espresso workflow. It gives a café a larger burr platform than the E6 while keeping the same published counter footprint, with a 2.8-inch touchscreen for timed dosing and service information.
LLS means Lock & Load System: Compak’s lever-operated system for opening the burr chamber while retaining the mechanical adjustment. The name describes cleaning access, not a noise rating.
A dose timer that supports your recipe
Set the grind for your espresso, weigh the grounds delivered and program the dose time around that result. The touchscreen provides dose counters and a burr-change reminder. Timed dosing is not grind-by-weight: the scale remains part of setup and quality checks.
Make cleaning and portafilter placement part of the workflow
Lock & Load makes routine chamber access easier. Follow Compak’s cleaning procedure and check the next shots after reassembly, even when the adjustment has been retained. The height- and depth-adjustable fork helps align the portafilter under the illuminated outlet; a motor fan supports cooling during use.

Which Compak fits your workflow?
| Model | What changes | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| E6 OD LLS | 64mm flat burrs | You prefer the E-series controls and access on the smaller burr platform. |
| E8 OD LLS | 83mm flat burrs; same published footprint | You want higher reference throughput without a wider E-series base. |
| Bolt 83 | 83mm burrs; Fresh and Predose modes | Preparing doses ahead of a busy run is part of your service plan. |
Frequently asked questions
What does LLS stand for?
Lock & Load System. It is Compak’s burr-access mechanism, designed to preserve the mechanical grind adjustment during opening. It does not mean “low-level sound.”
Does the E8 OD LLS weigh the coffee?
No. This model doses by grinding time. Recheck the weight after changing coffee, adjusting grind size or noticing a change in extraction.
How does the E8 compare with the E6?
The E8 uses 83mm flat burrs and the E6 uses 64mm. Both publish a 230 × 385 × 600mm overall size with the standard hopper. The E8 has higher manufacturer reference production; actual results depend on the coffee, grind and regional configuration.
Will opening the burr chamber keep my espresso dialed in?
Lock & Load retains the mechanical adjustment, but cleaning changes what is in the chamber. Reassemble as instructed, then check dose weight and extraction before returning to service.
Are Red Speed burrs and a portafilter detector included?
Compak lists Red Speed burrs and a portafilter detector as options. The standard burr specification is K110 steel; confirm any optional configuration before ordering.
Can I use it for frequent single dosing or filter coffee?
This listing is centered on hopper-fed espresso and timed portafilter doses. For regular bean changes or a broad espresso-to-filter workflow, compare the PK100 range.
How many drinks per day can it handle?
A daily total alone does not describe the load. Consider the busiest sequence of drinks, dose size and grinding intervals. The manual’s reference output is a comparison aid, not a promise of continuous production.
