Mazzer Robur S Electronic

Conical-burr performance for a busy espresso bar

The Robur S pairs 71 mm conical steel burrs with a low-speed drive, programmable timed dosing and dual-fan cooling. It is built for cafés that keep their primary espresso grinder working through long stretches of service.

Its large hopper suits a house espresso used throughout the day, while the adjustable portafilter holder, programmable pause and accessible grounds path help baristas manage dosing and daily care.

Designed around your daily service

Built for busy bars

An 800 W motor and large conical burrs support repeated espresso doses during sustained service.

71 mm conical burrs

Mazzer steel burrs run at 500 rpm on the U.S. 60 Hz version, with stepless adjustment for dialing in espresso.

Less coffee left behind

Mazzer reports 52% lower retention than the previous Robur design. The Robur S still needs appropriate purging.

Dual-fan cooling

Two fans help manage heat during repeated grinding, supporting the workflow of a busy espresso bar.

Controlled grounds delivery

The Grind Flow Control outlet uses interchangeable dampers to help manage clumps, static and coffee spray.

Accessible grinding chamber

Open the chamber for routine cleaning without losing the grind setting, then check your recipe before service.

Electronic controls keep dose programming and grinder information in view.

Repeatable workflow

Program your doses. Keep the bar moving.

Store three timed recipes for your usual baskets and drinks. The programmable barista pause lets you interrupt a dose to settle or distribute the coffee before grinding resumes.

The Robur S Electronic doses by time, not by an integrated scale. Check the delivered weight with a separate scale and adjust your recipe as the coffee, grind setting or conditions change.

At 60 Hz, its conical burrs operate at 500 rpm. La Marzocco USA lists an example output of 17 g in 3.4 seconds; actual grinding time varies with the beans and setting.

Coffee where it belongs

A controlled path into the portafilter

Mazzer’s Grind Flow Control system uses a removable outlet insert and interchangeable wire dampers to manage how grounds leave the chamber. Choose the appropriate damper for your coffee and follow Mazzer’s setup guidance.

The adjustable hands-free holder supports the portafilter beneath the chute. Keeping the chamber, outlet and holder clean helps maintain a tidy work area and a consistent daily routine.

Chamber access preserves the grind adjustment, reducing the amount of setup work after routine cleaning. Switch off and unplug the grinder before cleaning or servicing it.

Standard 1.6 kg hopper configuration

Drawing Measurement Millimeters Inches*
B Overall width 252 mm 9.92 in
D Full depth, including tray 464 mm 18.27 in
H Height, standard 1.6 kg hopper 720 mm 28.35 in
C Body depth 287 mm 11.30 in
A Body width 234 mm 9.21 in
E Hopper diameter 240 mm 9.45 in

*Inch values are approximate conversions from Mazzer’s millimeter drawing. Retail listings commonly round the overall size to 10 × 18.25 × 28.5 inches (W × D × H).

Allow space for the tray and hopper. The 11.30-inch body depth is not the full footprint. Allow 18.27 inches for the grinder with its tray, plus practical access for cleaning and additional overhead clearance for refilling and removing the hopper.

Is the Robur S right for your café?

The Robur S is a strong fit for a busy espresso bar using one house coffee for extended periods. Its 1.6 kg hopper and large conical burrs suit sustained service; a separate grinder is usually more practical for decaf or another coffee than repeatedly changing the beans in the main hopper.

For a high-output flat-burr alternative, compare the Mazzer Major V or Major VP. For a smaller commercial setup, consider the Super Jolly V Pro. Choose around peak demand, counter space and your preferred dosing workflow.

Robur S questions, answered

Does the Robur S Electronic grind by weight?

No. It uses programmed grinding times. Use a separate scale to confirm dose weight and make recipe adjustments.

Does 52% lower retention mean zero retention?

No. Mazzer’s figure compares the Robur S with the previous Robur design. Coffee remains in the grounds path, so appropriate purging is still part of dialing in and changing coffees.

Why is the full depth larger than some specification tables show?

The body is 287 mm deep, while the complete footprint with the tray is 464 mm deep. Use the full depth when planning the counter.

Can I clean the grinding chamber without losing the setting?

Yes. Mazzer designed the chamber for access without losing the grind adjustment. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and check your dose and extraction when returning to service.

Is the Robur S suitable for home use?

Its workflow is commercial. A home installation would need room for its height and tray, suitable power and a counter that supports its weight. For lower daily consumption, a smaller grinder may be a more practical fit.

Note about water hardness

Using hard water will ruin your espresso machine. Soft water no higher than 50ppm is required to keep your espresso machine running for the long term. Using hard water will void the warranty.
