Preorder questions & order changes

Does a new estimate apply to my existing order?

A product-page update may concern a different color, configuration or batch. Check your order confirmation and updates for your order. If they conflict with the page, or your estimate has passed, submit a support ticket with your order number.

Does the estimate mean arrival at my door?

Check which milestone the product description names. Warehouse arrival, readiness for carrier pickup and delivery are different stages. Production, inbound freight, customs and processing can affect timing. Carrier transit follows pickup.

Can faster shipping shorten the preorder wait?

A shipping speed or transit estimate does not shorten the wait for preorder inventory. If you need equipment by a firm date, ask about an in-stock alternative before ordering.

Does a tracking number mean my order has shipped?

Label creation alone does not confirm carrier pickup. Check for carrier acceptance or movement. Items may ship separately, so tracking for one item does not mean every item in your order has shipped.

How do I cancel, change my address or switch options?

Submit a support ticket promptly with your order number and the change you need. Wait for confirmation before assuming the change is complete. Cancellation and refund terms, including applicable fees and delayed-order exceptions, apply. Once an item has shipped, the return process applies.

Availability: Availability is specific to the exact color and burr combination selected. Options labeled Preorder are reserved from an incoming shipment and offered at reduced preorder pricing. Options without a preorder label are ready-to-ship inventory when available.

Why are there two prices? The lower price applies to preorder configurations because the customer accepts a longer wait. The higher price applies to limited ready-to-ship inventory. Both are the same current DF64 Gen 2.7 grinder; the price difference does not indicate a different version or lower performance.

Preorder options — estimated arrival: End Dec 2026 to Mid Jan 2027 at earliest. This timing applies only to options labeled Preorder and is subject to production, freight and customs delays. Preorders ship after warehouse receipt and processing.

Voltage: This page is for the 110–120V US model. International customers can purchase the 220V DF64 Gen 2.7 with EU-style plug.

Turin DF64 Gen 2.7 Single-Dose Espresso Grinder

The Turin DF64 Gen 2.7 is a 64mm flat-burr single-dose coffee grinder designed for espresso and filter coffee. Its stepless adjustment provides precise control when dialing in espresso, while its broad grind range also accommodates pour-over, drip, AeroPress, French press and cold brew.

A plasma anti-static system and bellows help reduce mess and retained grounds. The 64mm burr platform supports Turin, SSP and other compatible aftermarket burrs, allowing users to customize the grinder’s flavor profile and performance. The latest Gen 2.7 version includes an updated convex anti-popcorn blocker for smoother bean feeding.

This is the 110–120V US model. One year of warranty coverage is included. The optional $39 extended warranty adds one year, providing two years of total coverage. See our warranty terms for coverage and exclusions.

Quick guide: Gen 2.7 changes · Choose your burrs · DF64 vs DF54 · Setup and cleaning

Watch the DF64 Single-Dose Workflow

Watch a complete single-dose espresso workflow using the DF64 Gen 2, from loading the beans through grinding and pulling the shot.

This video shows an earlier DF64 Gen 2. See the Gen 2.7 package contents below for the current included accessories.

Single Dosing in Everyday Use

Single dosing means weighing the beans for each drink instead of storing a large supply in the grinder. The DF64 does not weigh beans or dispense a programmed dose, so plan to use a coffee scale.

  1. Weigh the beans for your recipe.
  2. Start the grinder, then add the beans.
  3. Use the bellows as directed to help clear remaining grounds, then stop the grinder.
  4. Transfer the grounds from the dosing cup into your basket or brewer.

Follow the DF64 setup and adjustment guide when setting up your grinder or changing grind size.

Why Choose the DF64 Gen 2.7?

Precise stepless adjustment

The stepless adjustment system provides an effectively unlimited number of settings between coarse and fine. This allows small grind-size changes when dialing in espresso while still providing the range needed for pour-over, drip coffee, AeroPress, French press and cold brew.

Low-retention single-dose workflow

The DF64 Gen 2.7 is designed to minimize the amount of ground coffee left inside the grinding chamber and chute. Its bellows help clear retained grounds after each dose, reducing waste and limiting the amount of older coffee carried into the next grind.

Plasma anti-static system

A plasma generator in the exit chute reduces static electricity and helps keep coffee grounds from clinging to the chute and dosing cup. This produces a cleaner workflow and generally eliminates the need for RDT under normal conditions.

Heavy-duty metal construction

The grinder’s metal body, simple controls and 250W AC motor are designed for dependable daily use. Its straightforward construction also avoids unnecessary electronic controls that could create additional points of failure.

Extensive 64mm burr compatibility

The 64mm flat-burr platform gives owners access to a broad aftermarket that includes compatible Turin, SSP and other 64mm burr sets. The grinder can be adapted for traditional espresso, modern light-roast espresso, filter coffee or a balance of multiple brewing methods.

Compact countertop footprint

At approximately 10 inches deep, 5.2 inches wide and 12 inches high, the DF64 Gen 2.7 provides full-size 64mm burr performance without occupying a large amount of counter space.

Available Colors and Package Contents

The DF64 Gen 2.7 is available in black, white, red, blue, silver and grey. Availability varies by color, burr selection and whether an in-stock or preorder configuration is selected.

The current package includes:

  • DF64 Gen 2.7 grinder
  • Factory-installed Turin 64mm burrs selected with the order
  • Bellows and lid
  • Black dosing cup
  • Silicone cup-support wedge
  • Metal grind-setting indicator
  • Cleaning brush
  • Power cord for standard US electrical outlets

SSP burrs purchased with the grinder are packaged separately and are not installed or aligned before shipping. Package contents can occasionally change during manufacturing, so the current product photographs and notices should be used to confirm what is included.

DF64 Gen 2 vs Gen 2.7: What Changed?

The current DF64 on this page is the Gen 2.7 revision of the DF64 Gen 2 platform. Gen 2.7 retains the 64mm flat burrs, stepless adjustment and 250W motor, with the convex anti-popcorn blocker described below. Earlier Gen 2 reviews may show older accessories or chute components; use this page’s current specifications and package list when ordering.

The separately listed DF64V is a variable-speed model. The DF64 Gen 2.7 sold here runs at a fixed speed. Choose between them by workflow and speed-control needs, then compare the selected burr options.

Version Meaningful changes
Original Gen 2 Introduced the redesigned grinding chamber, plasma anti-static system, integrated anti-popcorn device, improved declumper and updated dosing components.
Later Gen 2 revisions Updated the inner chute and plasma-probe arrangement, added a metal power button and replaced the earlier dosing-collar arrangement with a black dosing cup and silicone cup-support wedge.
Gen 2.7 Introduced a convex anti-popcorn blocker. Earlier versions used a flat blocker that could allow a few beans to remain on top instead of feeding into the grinding chamber.

Which DF64 Burrs Should I Choose?

Choose your burrs by brew method. Start with the standard Turin Stainless Steel option for espresso and mixed brewing. The separately named Stainless Steel Brew option is intended for filter-focused use and is available only in the configurations shown in the selector. Turin Red Titanium and SSP burrs with Red Speed coating are separate products. If you choose SSP replacement burrs, they are supplied separately and are not installed or aligned before shipping. The comparison below helps you choose by brewing method and cup preference.

Burr Best suited for Cup profile
Turin stainless steel Espresso and filter coffee Balanced and versatile
Red Titanium Espresso and filter coffee Similar geometry with a coated surface
SSP High Uniformity Espresso Greater body and intensity
SSP Multipurpose Light-roast espresso and filter coffee Higher clarity and flavor separation
SSP Cast Lab Sweet Espresso and filter coffee Balanced sweetness, body and clarity
Turin Stainless Steel Brew Filter-focused brewing Dedicated Brew option; check the selected configuration

Stainless Steel Brew option

Choose the option explicitly labeled Stainless Steel Brew when filter coffee is your priority. It is distinct from the standard Stainless Steel option. Check the full color-and-burr selection for availability and preorder timing.

Turin stainless-steel burrs

Choose the stock stainless-steel burrs if you want a versatile and economical option for both espresso and filter coffee. They are a good starting point for most buyers.

Red Titanium burrs

The Red Titanium burrs use a similar general-purpose geometry with a coated surface. They are also suited to both espresso and filter coffee.

SSP High Uniformity burrs

SSP High Uniformity burrs are designed primarily for espresso. They are a strong choice for users seeking greater body, intensity and a more traditional espresso presentation.

SSP Multipurpose burrs

SSP Multipurpose burrs emphasize clarity and flavor separation. They are especially well suited to light-roast espresso and filter coffee.

SSP Cast Lab Sweet burrs

SSP Cast Lab Sweet burrs provide a middle ground between the body of espresso-focused burrs and the clarity of multipurpose burrs. They are a good choice for users seeking sweetness, balance and versatility.

SSP burrs are supplied separately. Espresso Outlet does not install or align them before shipping.

DF54 or DF64: Which Fits Your Setup?

The Turin DF54 is the lower-cost choice when budget and a smaller footprint come first. Choose the DF64 if you want its 64mm burr platform and wider choice of compatible aftermarket burrs. Both use a single-dose workflow; choose the burr option for your primary brew method. Read our DF54 v4.1 vs DF64 Gen 2.7 comparison for a focused side-by-side buying guide.

DF64 Gen 2.7 vs CF64V vs DF64V Gen 3

These three Turin grinders use compatible 64mm flat burrs and a stepless single-dose workflow, but they are designed around different priorities. The DF64 Gen 2.7 emphasizes value and broad versatility. The CF64V adds a stronger brushless motor, variable speed and a narrow vertical format. The DF64V Gen 3 uses an angled horizontal design with variable speed and a refined controlled-feed workflow.

Buying factor DF64 Gen 2.7 CF64V DF64V Gen 3
Burr platform 64mm flat 64mm flat 64mm flat
Stock burrs Selected Turin Stainless Steel, Red Titanium or Stainless Steel Brew, where offered Turin Stainless Steel Turin Red Titanium espresso burrs

Speed control Fixed speed Variable, 800–1,800 RPM Variable, up to 1,800 RPM
Grinder layout Traditional angled upright body with bellows Narrow vertical burr layout with pre-breaker auger Low-profile angled body with controlled slow feeder
Grounds clearing Bellows and declumper Bellows, integrated chute knocker and plasma system Bellows, removable chute and plasma system
Best reason to choose it Best overall value and easiest access to multiple factory burr choices 400W brushless motor, variable speed and a narrow footprint Variable-speed control with a refined angled workflow and stock coated burrs
Main tradeoff No RPM adjustment Vertical workflow and controls may not suit buyers who prefer the DF64V format Higher cost than the fixed-speed DF64; a different layout from the CF64V

Which 64mm Turin grinder should you buy?

Choose the DF64 Gen 2.7 if you want the strongest balance of grind quality, burr flexibility and price. It is the sensible choice when you do not need RPM control.

Choose the CF64V if you want variable speed, a 400W brushless motor and a narrow vertical body.

Choose the DF64V Gen 3 if you want variable speed in an angled, low-profile grinder with a brushless motor and controlled-feed design.

Variable speed is a tuning tool, not an automatic upgrade in cup quality. Burr geometry, coffee, roast development, grind size and recipe usually have a greater effect on flavor. Buyers who do not intend to experiment with RPM will generally receive better value from the DF64 Gen 2.7.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the DF64 Gen 2.7 good for espresso?

Yes. The DF64 Gen 2.7 is designed to grind precisely enough for espresso. Its stepless adjustment allows very small grind-size changes, while its 64mm flat burrs produce consistent grounds for dialing in a shot. Different burr options also allow users to tailor the grinder toward greater body, balance or clarity.

Can I switch between espresso and pour-over?

Yes. The DF64 covers espresso, pour-over, drip, AeroPress, French press and cold brew. Its stock stainless-steel burrs suit both espresso and filter coffee. Note your setting for each coffee and brew method, and use it as a starting point when switching back. Expect small adjustments as coffee ages or beans change; a remembered setting does not guarantee the same extraction. Follow the DF64 setup and adjustment guide and keep your dosing and grounds-clearing routine consistent.

How much coffee does the DF64 Gen 2.7 retain?

The DF64 Gen 2.7 uses bellows and a short grounds path to limit retained coffee. Results vary with burr choice, beans, grind setting, chute cleanliness and bellows technique. See the earlier Gen 2 retention demonstration for an example of the workflow and test conditions.

The DF64 should be described as a low-retention grinder, not a zero-retention grinder. No grinder eliminates every trace of retained coffee under all conditions.

Does the DF64 Gen 2.7 require RDT?

RDT is generally not required. The built-in plasma generator reduces static and helps prevent grounds from clinging to the chute and dosing cup. Extremely dry coffee or certain roast levels may still produce some static, so a very light mist can be used when necessary. Avoid introducing excessive moisture into the grinder.

Should I hot-start the DF64 Gen 2.7?

Hot-starting means turning on the grinder before adding the coffee beans. This can help the beans feed through the burrs consistently and reduces the chance of the motor stalling when grinding dense, lightly roasted coffee at a fine espresso setting.

Hot-starting is particularly helpful for light-roast espresso. Users can also start the grinder with the beans already loaded, but the same workflow should be used consistently when comparing grind settings and extraction results.

Do the DF64 burrs need to be seasoned?

New burrs can change slightly as their cutting surfaces wear in during initial use. You do not need to discard a large amount of good coffee simply to season the burrs. They will naturally season through normal use, although grind settings and shot behavior may become more stable over time.

When installing a different burr set, expect to dial in the grinder again.

Does the DF64 Gen 2.7 need burr alignment?

Most users should begin using the grinder normally before considering burr alignment. Factory alignment is generally sufficient for normal home espresso and filter-coffee use.

Alignment may be worth investigating if the grinder has an unusually narrow usable range, produces inconsistent results despite proper dialing in, or if a new aftermarket burr set has been installed. Espresso Outlet does not perform custom burr alignment as part of the standard purchase.

Can SSP burrs be installed in the DF64 Gen 2.7?

Yes. The grinder accepts compatible 64mm SSP burrs, including High Uniformity, Multipurpose and Cast Lab Sweet burrs.

SSP burrs ordered with the grinder are shipped separately and are not installed or aligned before shipping.

Will the DF64 work with my espresso machine and portafilter?

The DF64 can prepare espresso grounds for machines with different basket sizes. Portafilter size affects how you transfer the grounds. For 54mm Breville baskets and other smaller baskets, grind into the included dosing cup and pour into the basket using a funnel that fits it. The cup does not need to fit directly over your portafilter.

Direct grinding into a portafilter depends on its shape, support and clearance beneath the chute. Use the dosing cup if your portafilter does not sit securely. Contact us with your machine model if you need help checking your setup.

How often should the DF64 Gen 2.7 be cleaned?

Cleaning frequency depends on usage, roast level and the amount of oil present on the coffee beans. The chute should be checked periodically for accumulated grounds, and the grinding chamber should be cleaned when retention increases, grounds begin clumping, or flavor becomes less consistent.

Always unplug the grinder before cleaning. Use a brush or grinder-safe vacuum to remove dry coffee residue. Do not introduce water into the motor, grinding chamber or electrical components.

Detailed instructions are available in the DF64 Gen 2 getting-started and troubleshooting guide.

Is the DF64 Gen 2.7 noisy?

The DF64 Gen 2.7 uses a powerful 250W AC motor and is not designed to be silent. Its sound is noticeable, particularly when grinding lighter-roasted coffee, but it processes a typical dose quickly. Buyers who prioritize a different motor sound or adjustable grinding speed may prefer the DF64V.

DF64 Gen 2.7 vs. Niche Zero: What is the difference?

The principal difference is burr design. The DF64 Gen 2.7 uses replaceable 64mm flat burrs, while the Niche Zero uses conical burrs.

Flat burrs are often selected by users seeking greater flavor clarity and separation, particularly with lighter-roasted coffee. Conical burrs are often associated with greater body and a more blended flavor presentation, especially with medium and darker roasts.

The DF64 also provides a broad selection of aftermarket 64mm burrs, making it easier to change the grinder’s flavor profile without replacing the entire grinder. The better choice ultimately depends on preferred coffee style, workflow and budget.

Does Espresso Outlet align the burrs?

Espresso Outlet does not perform custom burr alignment as part of the standard grinder purchase. The grinder arrives with its selected Turin burrs factory-installed. Most customers can use the grinder normally without performing an alignment procedure.

What comes with the DF64 Gen 2.7?

The current package includes the grinder, factory-installed Turin burrs selected with the order, bellows and lid, black dosing cup, silicone cup-support wedge, metal grind-setting indicator, cleaning brush and US power cord. SSP burrs, when purchased, are packaged separately.

What changed in DF64 version 2.7?

Version 2.7 introduced an updated anti-popcorn device with a convex blocker. Earlier versions used a flat blocker that could allow a few beans to remain on top rather than feeding smoothly into the grinding chamber.

Is this the 120V US version?

Yes. This product page is for the 110–120V model designed for use in the United States. It has the correct plug and electrical frequency for standard US household outlets.

The international 220V DF64 Gen 2.7 is sold separately and should not be used with a standard US outlet.

Can I return a sale-priced DF64?

Yes. This DF64 offer qualifies for our standard return policy, including regular sale pricing. You have 30 days from delivery to initiate a return. The grinder must be clean and in like-new condition, with all original packaging and included components. You pay return shipping, and original shipping costs are deducted from the refund.
