Note about water hardness
Using hard water will ruin your espresso machine. Soft water no higher than 50ppm is required to keep your espresso machine running for the long term. Using hard water will void the warranty.
Its a great value for a grinder, and one that might be in the top tier as a travel grinder. The one easily correctable issue is the pint glass looking cup that comes with it. It really needs to be paired with a true dosing cup, but to do that you need a "highchair" for the dosing cup. If you have a 3D printer I've got one loaded on printables at https://www.printables.com/model/1363325-turin-dm47-coffee-grinder-highchair-shaker-stand that should fit a few (one linked for $11.xx that works well) dosing cups.
Before purchasing the DM47, I used my TIMEMORE Chestnut C3S Pro Manual Coffee Grinder for all my coffee grinding. I make 72 ozs of cold brew per week with my AeroPress XL and hand-ground all the beans. After a lot of research, I chose the DM47 for the conical burrs to match the results of my TIMEMORE.
The DM47 was easy to dial in by comparing the grinds side by side. Retention is minimal as long as you use the bellow as you grind and mist your beans. Some beans will still stick, and you must have a brush or similar object to push the beans into the burs. The bar across the opening will hold some beans when pouring in 30 grams of beans, I have not had an issue with 15 grams. I turn the grinder on before dumping the beans in with a dosing cup.
Speed is excellent for my use and has cut my brewing time by half. The grinder is quiet. The cord with the transformer, due to being 12-volt compatible, can get in the way, but the cord is of sufficient length.
Clean up is easy except for the outer walls of the burrs, the section with the numbers, tens to retain ground coffee. It takes some time to clean them completely with a brush. The air puffer is ok, but does not move much air. The bellows do retain coffee grounds and are nearly impossible to clean totally.
The dosing cup will easily hold 30 grams of ground coffee.
I like it but it has a learning curve. The directions are a joke. Videos online helped some, but there needs to be a better one on dialing in the grind settings. It really is zero retention which will help a lot in not having to take it apart to clean it. Trying to get it back to your preferred grind is a trial in patience.
I like this grinder and I really enjoyed my coffee with the stock burrs.
Solidly built, compact, quiet, easy to clean, wonderful grind profile for pour over. I had high expectations that were exceeded on every point. If it disappeared I would immediately buy another

from 1143 reviewsProven to be a very capable grinder. Must better than the Baratza Encore it replaced. The "plasma generator" feature really works and I'm amazed at the low level of clumping and schmoo accumulating around the chute. Trying to zero in on your best ratio of beans in > espresso out is pretty do-able with this grinder.
It really does make the espresso taste better. I love the workflow improvement of the grind by weight. Dialing in is very easy. Small turns of the adjustment knob keep my shot times right at 25-30 seconds. Grind is so consistent and fluffy I do jot need to WDT anymore. Huge upgrade from my CF64V.
I was going back and forth with several other machines that have all the same functions. The main difference was the price and after many, many hours of research, I pulled the plug on this machine. Most people think cheaper, means less, but this has not been the case. My friend has an ECM Synch II and this thing can go toe to toe with that machine, for half the price. I’ve had it now for about 5 weeks and it’s worked like a charm. I have a smart plug to turn on and off everyday, if I wake up before start time, I press on from the app and by the time I’m up and moving it’s ready to use. The steamer is great, the build quality is great and I love everything about. I picked the black one to match my esthetics and accessories and I’m so glad I did. If you are in the fence, feel confident in pulling the trigger, especially with Espresso Outlet customer support.
The Kaleido M2 is making roasting a really fun and engaging task. So much to learn and validate with taste. It was fairly easy to get started and produce decent roasts. Then the fun began as the quest to improve flavor development required a lot of learning and even some courage. Much more ahead to experience!
Fantastic grinder! Easy to use and clean.
Amazing for espresso machines, calibrate your grind and voila! WIll take you to a cafe in Italy or France.
So far it is mich better (quieter, faster) and seems more long-term built than my Fellow Opus. I liked the Opus, it was just plastic. Grind seems very consistent. I did use my 3-D printer to print off an extra 10° tilt base and cup funnel. I did have about 0.2 gram retention.
The larger chute makes your df54 even better! Easy and quick install.
Great product. Quick, easy and speedy ordering and delivery. Highly recommend. Zero complaints. 😁
So far pretty happy with the purchase.Retention is little to none and it is a decently quiet grinder. The worm screw is difficult to use if you want to switch from espresso to a pour over. I am only using it for my espresso.
Kaleido M2 heats up fast and is ideal size for my weekly coffee consumption of 300 grams or so. The Kaleido monitor works well with a little practice to provide full functionality. I haven’t been able to use the Artisan software due to lack of appropriate laptop computer.
Great scale! Exactly what I needed
I am very pleased with this grinder! It is perfect for my needs as I learn to pull shots at home
