Breville Barista Express Impress BES876 is a assisted espresso machine with grinder. The Breville Barista Express Impress BES876 adds intelligent dosing and assisted tamping to the familiar Barista Express format. Its integrated conical-burr grinder offers 25 settings, the Impress Puck System remembers the previous dose outcome, and the lever applies a consistent 22 lb tamp with a finishing twist.

Breville Barista Express Impress review: the quick verdict

Choose Express Impress when you want a hands-on espresso machine but do not want dosing and tamping to be the hardest part of the process. Milk texturing remains manual, so it still teaches an important barista skill.

Best for Beginners who want guided puck preparation, all-in-one convenience, and tactile controls without a touchscreen.
Consider another model if Buyers who want automatic milk, very fast ThermoJet heat-up, saved drink recipes, or a separate grinder upgrade path.

Key features and how they affect the cup

Intelligent dosing

The system calculates a dose from the previous grind and corrects the next preparation when more or less coffee is needed.

Assisted 22 lb tamp

The lever applies repeatable pressure and finishes with a 7-degree twist, keeping loose grounds more contained.

25-setting integrated grinder

More steps than the original Express make it easier to refine flow for different coffees.

Thermocoil and PID control

The heating system delivers brewing water at the target temperature for balanced extraction.

Manual steam wand

Milk texture remains in your hands for direct control and skill development.

Dialing in and daily workflow

  1. Use fresh coffee and begin near the machine’s recommended dose.
  2. Distribute the grounds evenly and keep the portafilter rim clean before locking in.
  3. Watch flow and shot time, but make the final decision by taste. Grind finer for a very fast, thin shot and coarser for a choked or overly slow shot.
  4. Texture milk immediately after extraction when making a milk drink, then purge and wipe the wand.
  5. Change only one grind, dose, yield, or temperature variable at a time so the result is understandable.

What is included

  • 54 mm stainless-steel portafilter
  • Single-wall and dual-wall baskets
  • Stainless-steel milk jug
  • Razor precision trimming tool
  • Cleaning kit and water-filter components

Cleaning and ownership

Use the dose indicators as guidance, then evaluate espresso by flow and taste. Brush the grinder chute, keep burrs dry, purge and wipe the steam wand immediately after milk, and follow cleaning-cycle and descale instructions in the manual.
