Turin Legato V2 vs Breville Duo-Temp Pro

Updated September 9, 2026.

The Turin Legato V2 offers more user-adjustable brewing controls than the Breville Duo-Temp Pro BES810. The Duo-Temp Pro offers a simple manual routine. Both use PID temperature control, so the useful comparison is adjustable settings and heating layout—not a claim that one machine has no electronic temperature regulation.

Breville now identifies the BES810 as discontinued. Check condition and service support carefully when comparing a used machine with a new Legato.

How the controls differ

The Legato V2 allows temperature and pre-infusion changes and includes an adjustable OPV. Start with the factory pressure configuration and get the grind right before changing it. The Duo-Temp Pro manual documents PID control, a thermocoil, low-pressure pre-infusion and an automatic purge after steaming. Its simpler control dial leaves more of the recipe to the user’s grind, dose and shot-stop decision.

Milk preparation and heating

Both machines require manual pitcher technique. The Legato uses separate brewing and steaming heat sources, while the Duo-Temp Pro changes operating mode through its thermocoil system. The automatic purge helps the Breville return from steam operation toward brewing temperature. Do not confuse either manual wand with the automatic milk system on the Bambino Plus.

What more settings are worth

Adjustable temperature can help an interested barista explore different coffees, but it is not a substitute for a capable grinder. If you prepare one familiar medium-roast recipe and already enjoy the results, additional menus may provide little immediate benefit. If you actively experiment, the Legato offers more parameters to record and change.

Buying a used Duo-Temp Pro

Use Breville’s BES810 product and support information to identify the model. Ask for a demonstration of brewing, steaming and the purge routine, and check for leaks, missing accessories and service history. Confirm the regional voltage and repair route. An attractive used price means less if the machine needs immediate service.

Choosing the full setup

Choose the Legato for adjustable brewing, the 58mm accessory ecosystem and a new-machine support arrangement. Choose a sound Duo-Temp Pro if you value a simple manual process and its price leaves room for a good grinder. Compare complete costs, including a scale and grinder such as the SK40.
