Rocket R58 TUNE Dual Boiler Espresso Machine
The Rocket Espresso R58 TUNE is a plumbable dual-boiler E61 espresso machine combining independent PID temperature control, a rotary pump, active group heating and Rocket’s programmable TUNE pressure stages. It is designed for advanced home baristas who want repeatable espresso, strong steam recovery and the flexibility to use either the internal reservoir or a direct water connection.
A 0.58-liter coffee boiler separates extraction temperature from the 1.8-liter steam boiler. The full-color communication pod manages settings, while a dedicated shot timer remains visible during brewing. Push-turn steam and hot-water controls allow a quick purge by pressing or continuous output by turning.
How Rocket TUNE Technology Works
TUNE divides extraction into a beginning stage, full-pressure brewing and a final stage. The pre-infusion and finishing stages operate at a fixed 3 bar and can be timed through the controller. Gentle saturation can reduce channeling risk at the start, while the lower-pressure finish reduces force as the puck becomes more permeable.
TUNE does not replace correct puck preparation. Begin with a capable grinder, even distribution, a level tamp and a measured brew ratio. Once the base recipe is stable, adjust the duration of the beginning or final stage one variable at a time.
Why Choose the R58 TUNE?
Independent PID-controlled boilers
Change brew temperature without tying it to steam pressure. The steam boiler can be managed separately, providing flexibility for straight-espresso sessions and larger milk-drink service.
Actively heated E61 group
Dedicated group heating shortens the time needed to warm the heavy E61 assembly while retaining its lever operation, mechanical valves and standard 58mm platform.
Rotary pump with two water modes
Run from the 1.9-liter reservoir or connect to a properly treated direct water line. The rotary pump provides quieter operation and suits a permanent installation.
Communication pod and shot feedback
The full-color controller handles temperatures, scheduling and TUNE settings. A separate display keeps shot time visible during extraction.
Push-turn steam and water valves
Press for a short purge or rotate for continuous flow, combining fast cleanup with controlled use.

Daily Brewing Workflow
Allow the machine, actively heated group and portafilter to stabilize. Begin with a conventional profile and weigh dose and yield. Adjust grind until flow and flavor are close, then explore TUNE stages. For milk drinks, the independent 1.8-liter steam boiler lets you texture milk during extraction without changing brew-boiler temperature.
R58 TUNE vs. Mozzafiato FAST V
| Feature | R58 TUNE | Mozzafiato FAST V |
|---|---|---|
| Heating | 0.58 L brew + 1.8 L steam boilers | 1.8 L heat-exchange boiler |
| Pump | Rotary | Vibration |
| Water | Reservoir or plumbing | Reservoir |
| Extraction control | Dual PID and TUNE stages | PID-managed HX |
| Best fit | Independent temperatures and profiling | Simpler, lower-cost FAST E61 workflow |
Installation, Water and Care
A direct-water setup requires appropriate filtration, pressure regulation, accessible shutoff and leak protection. Use scale-conscious espresso water in either mode. Purge the steam wand after every milk drink, rinse the group, and backflush as directed by Rocket. Contact Espresso Outlet before descaling or internal service.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Rocket TUNE technology?
It provides a timed 3-bar beginning stage, full-pressure extraction and a timed 3-bar finishing stage.
Is the R58 TUNE a true dual boiler?
Yes. It has a 0.58-liter coffee boiler and separate 1.8-liter steam boiler.
Can it be plumbed in?
Yes. Its rotary pump supports the 1.9-liter reservoir or a properly treated direct line.
Can the steam boiler be controlled separately?
Yes. Independent PID control separates brew and steam management.
Does it have a shot timer?
Yes. Shot time is shown separately while the communication pod handles machine settings.
Does TUNE create unlimited pressure profiles?
No. It provides timed low-pressure beginning and finishing stages around the full-pressure extraction rather than a freely drawn pressure curve.
What size portafilter does it use?
It uses a standard 58mm E61-style portafilter.
What water tank size does Rocket specify?
Rocket lists the current R58 TUNE reservoir at 1.9 liters.
How much space is required?
The body is 335mm wide, or 408mm including the display, 482mm deep and 427mm high. Leave service and refill clearance.
Is a grinder included?
No. Use a precise espresso grinder.
What warranty is included?
A one-year Espresso Outlet warranty and support apply to units purchased here.
Is this the 115V machine?
Yes. This listing is for the 115V, 60Hz, 1600W U.S. configuration.
