Full body with a clean finish
Bendix Papua New Guinea Dark Roast places full body alongside a clean, lightly sweet finish. The roaster describes chocolate and smoke in the aroma, giving the coffee a darker sensory direction without reducing the profile to bitterness alone. Bendix states that it is Fair Trade Organic certified.
Papua New Guinea is the documented country of origin. A region, estate, producer group, cultivar, elevation, harvest and processing method are not named, so none are inferred. Chocolate and smoke are tasting and aroma descriptors, not listed added ingredients.
The former promotional “popular” wording did not identify a separate version. This remains the dark-roast Papua New Guinea coffee offered whole bean, ground and coarse ground in 12-ounce, one-pound and five-pound bags.

Preserve body without making the cup heavy
For French press, start with 30 grams of coffee and 500 grams of filtered water. Use coarse ground or grind whole beans medium-coarse. Steep about four minutes, allow sediment to settle and decant so a second serving does not continue extracting against the grounds.
If the smoke character dominates, try slightly cooler water or a paper-filter method with the same approximate 1:16 ratio. Paper can increase clarity and make the clean finish easier to evaluate. If the cup feels diluted, adjust the grind finer before sharply increasing dose.
For automatic drip, use 30 grams to 480 grams of water around 195–200°F. Make sure the bed wets evenly. A dark roast is generally more soluble than a light roast, so hotter and longer are not automatically better. Taste after cooling before deciding whether the finish is balanced.
Whole-bean customers can use the Turin DF54 grinder for repeatable filter and press adjustments. For espresso experiments, the Turin DF64 Gen 2 grinder provides finer control, though no Bendix espresso recipe is supplied for this origin.
Size, storage and roast comparison
Choose 12 ounces to explore the profile, one pound for regular brewing or five pounds for high consumption. Divide bulk coffee into sealed portions and keep them away from heat, sunlight and humidity. Ground coffee should be resealed promptly because of its greater exposed surface area.
Freshly roasted coffee degasses over time, changing bloom and flow. Use the roast date when available and follow Bendix guidance rather than assuming a universal rest period. Avoid storing the open bag beside a hot machine.
Taste the coffee black before adding milk; then repeat with your usual amount to see whether the chocolate aroma remains clear. Compare this coffee with Bendix Peru Dark Roast for a milder, sweeter dark-roast direction, or Bendix Ethiopian Yirgacheffe for floral and lemon notes at a medium-dark roast. Keep brew ratio consistent.
