Check the caramel finish before reaching for sweetener
Make a first drip pot with 32 g coffee and 515 g water. Taste a small black serving after cooling, then decide whether the caramel reference comes through in the finish. Adding caramel syrup immediately would make it difficult to judge what the roasted coffee contributes on its own.
For a milk comparison, split off another portion and measure the milk rather than estimating by cup color. If you want a more intense drink, change the ratio modestly in the next pot. Keep grind constant during that trial so the strength comparison remains useful.
Is this the same as Motive’s Colombian decaf?
This is the regular dark-roasted Colombian offering; the separate decaf listing explicitly identifies sugarcane decaffeination. The supplier does not establish that both are the same current lot. Choose between them based on the documented decaf distinction rather than assuming identical sourcing from the country name alone.
