Chocolate undertones distinguish this medium-dark Nicaragua SHG from Hemisphere’s lighter citrus-led version. Both the growing country and Chavarria farm are named, with Hemisphere describing a direct purchase from the farm. The cup retains noticeable acidity, giving you another dimension to consider alongside the more developed roast.

Assess the chocolate note in a milk drink
Brew 25 g coffee with about 400 g water for a first filter batch. Reserve a little to drink black, then add your usual milk portion to the remainder. This tells you whether the recipe provides enough coffee presence for the way you actually serve it.
If milk makes the drink faint, increase the next coffee dose slightly while holding water constant. If you drink it black and find the concentration too high, use a little more water instead. Keep a note of the change; acidity, roast impression and beverage strength are related but are not interchangeable descriptions.
Is the medium-dark version the only Nicaragua SHG?
Hemisphere also offers a light-medium roast of Nicaragua SHG. The lighter listing emphasizes citrus, while this one describes chocolate undertones. Choosing between them is primarily a roast-and-flavor decision.
