Bread & Butter’s Colombian coffee comes from Nariño and is washed processed. The roaster describes mild, sweet-tart citrus acidity with almond and praline flavors, a profile suited to drip coffee or pour-over.
Coffee profile
- Origin: Nariño, Colombia
- Process: Washed
- Elevation: 1,600–2,300 meters
- Tasting notes: Almond, praline and sweet-tart citrus
- Recommended methods: Drip and pour-over
- Options: Whole bean or ground; 12 oz or 5 lb
Citrus with a nut-and-sugar foundation
The almond and praline references offer a useful counterpoint to the citrus description. For pour-over, keep the initial recipe simple so you can judge sweetness and acidity together. A paper filter can help you assess the lighter citrus notes without the sediment and heavier texture associated with some immersion brewers.
Brewing and storage
For filter brewing, begin near 20 g coffee to 320 g water, then adjust grind or strength to taste. A French press needs a grind suited to immersion. The roaster notes that packaging may carry its earlier The Herd Coffee branding while transitioning to Bread & Butter Coffee.
For whole-bean preparation, compare Turin coffee grinders suited to your brew method.
