Turin Gallatin Reservoir vs. Direct-Plumb Setup
The Gallatin model determines how practical direct plumbing is. The V uses a vibration pump and is naturally suited to reservoir use; the R and DB use rotary pumps designed for reservoir or permanent direct-water operation.

Reservoir setup
Use espresso-compatible water, rinse the tank, fill it without exceeding its mark, and seat it fully. Confirm that the source selector is set to tank or reservoir if the model has a selector. Keep the intake hose below the water level and do not let the pump run dry.
Direct-water setup
A permanent connection needs more than a hose. Install appropriate filtration or water treatment, pressure regulation when required, an accessible shutoff valve, food-safe tubing, and leak protection. Flush the supply line before connecting it. On models with a drain-capable tray, route the drain continuously downhill without kinks or a submerged outlet.
Completely demineralized water is not automatically safer. The machine needs water that limits scale while retaining enough mineral content for reliable sensing and good extraction. About 20 to 50ppm is what we recommend.
Switch sources deliberately
Turn the machine off, close the water supply, and follow the model manual before moving the selector. A selector left between positions can starve the pump. After switching, watch the first fill cycle and inspect every fitting for leaks.
Use the exact Gallatin manual and support material for connection parts and selector positions. If the pump runs but does not draw water, switch off promptly and send photos of the water source, selector, hoses, and model label to support.
