Bread & Butter’s Guatemalan coffee comes from Huehuetenango and uses washed processing. The roaster describes sweet and savory flavors, tangy acidity, grapefruit and coffee-cherry notes, recommending it for drip and iced-coffee preparation.
Coffee profile
- Origin: Huehuetenango, Guatemala
- Process: Washed
- Elevation: 1,600–1,800 meters
- Tasting notes: Grapefruit, coffee cherry, sweet and savory
- Options: Whole bean or ground; 12 oz or 5 lb
Keep the fruit character in balance
Use the grapefruit note as a reference for flavor, not a reason to accept a thin or sharply sour brew. For iced coffee, plan for the water contributed by melting ice so the cup keeps its intended strength. Whole beans are helpful when switching between hot filter brewing and a coarser cold-brew preparation.
Brewing and storage
For filter brewing, begin near 20 g coffee to 320 g water, then adjust grind or strength to taste. A French press needs a grind suited to immersion. The roaster notes that packaging may carry its earlier The Herd Coffee branding while transitioning to Bread & Butter Coffee.
For whole-bean preparation, compare Turin coffee grinders suited to your brew method.
