TCA stands for Temperature Control Adjustment. It changes the operating conditions of the heat-exchange system so you can better match the machine to different coffees and routines. It is not the same as a brew-boiler PID displaying exact water temperature at the puck. On any HX machine, group heat, idle time and flushing continue to influence extraction temperature.

Allow time for the boiler, E61 group and portafilter to reach a stable temperature. Weigh the coffee dose, distribute evenly, tamp level and measure liquid yield. Change grind first when flow is wrong. Once the recipe is close, use the TCA setting and a consistent flushing routine to refine flavor.

For milk drinks, purge condensation from the steam wand, introduce air near the surface, then position the tip to roll the milk until glossy. Wipe and purge the wand immediately. The HX system can steam while the espresso is extracting, which shortens the workflow for back-to-back drinks.
