Rocket Boxer 2 Group Tall Cup: A Compact Bar for Overlapping Orders
The Rocket Boxer 2 Group Tall Cup is designed for operators who need two brewing positions without dedicating a wide section of counter to the espresso machine. Its 630mm body accommodates two groups, a 13.2-liter copper heat-exchange boiler and automatic portion controls. Approximately 120mm of cup clearance and group-level shot timing support a takeaway-focused workflow.
The second group lets a barista stagger extractions or allows two operators to brew concurrently. It does not remove other bottlenecks: grinders, milk steaming, refrigeration access and drink handoff must also keep pace. This is a straightforward commercial heat-exchanger platform rather than a multi-boiler machine for independently setting each group’s temperature.
Why the Tall Cup and Timer Configuration Matters
A scale under a cup uses some of the available height. The Tall Cup format offers more room than the approximately 86mm standard-height Boxer, but the actual cup-and-scale combination still needs measuring. A 12-ounce label describes volume, not physical height, so it cannot establish fit.
The included timers make extraction duration visible at each group. Use that feedback with measured dose, beverage yield and taste. Volumetric buttons stop water delivery; they do not make identical beverage weights inevitable when coffee or grind size changes. Staff should know which controls dispense programmed portions and which provide manual delivery.

A nameplate power figure and a specified circuit rating describe different things; installation must follow the supplied documentation.
What You Gain—and What You Do Not—with Two Groups
Two groups reduce the wait for an available brewing position. They do not provide two independent steam systems or two fully separate machines: major components remain shared. Plan an operational backup strategy rather than assuming the second group protects against every pump, electrical or boiler fault.
The main boiler’s heat-exchange architecture supports brewing and steaming in the same service window. It does not offer a separate brew-temperature menu for each group. A Rocket Doppia 2 Group separates the coffee and steam boilers; the R9 2 Group goes further with an independently controlled brew boiler for each group. Those are different reasons to upgrade from the Boxer, not simply higher price tiers.
Compare the Correct Boxer Listings
Choose this page when you want the two-group Tall Cup configuration with timers. The standard-height Boxer 2 Group is a separate listing; do not assume its cup clearance or timer package is identical. The Boxer 1 Group Tall Cup saves width and has a different boiler and electrical specification, but provides only one extraction position.
Preparing the Café or Mobile Bar
Have an installer review the electrical supply, water pressure and treatment, drain route, loaded counter support and access for delivery. For a trailer, include grinders, pumps, refrigeration and other simultaneous loads in the power plan. Commercial equipment listings and site approval should be checked for the actual installation rather than inferred from the word commercial.
Select commercial grinders around peak doses and your decaf or second-coffee program. Put tamping, knocking out, milk storage and handoff within a workable sequence. Dylan can help plan a commercial package; call 815-954-4086 before finalizing equipment and utilities.
Rocket Boxer 2 Group Tall Cup FAQs
Choosing the configuration
How is this different from the standard-height Boxer?
This listing specifies approximately 120mm cup clearance and included shot timers. The standard-height version has approximately 86mm clearance, and its timer configuration must be confirmed separately. Compare the exact listing rather than a photograph of the broader Boxer family.
Can two baristas work at the machine?
Two groups permit independent or overlapping extractions. Whether two people can work comfortably also depends on counter layout, pitcher space and where grinders and refrigeration sit. The compact cabinet does not automatically create a spacious two-person workstation.
Is it suitable for a busy takeaway café?
It is worth evaluating where two groups, extra cup height and a compact machine are priorities. Match the actual rush, milk volume and hot-water use to the complete station. Do not choose solely from average daily drink totals.
How many cups per hour is it rated for?
We do not give a universal finished-drink rating for this listing. A queue of large lattes is different from the same number of espressos. Assess the busiest interval with the chosen recipe, grinder and staffing rather than multiplying group count by theoretical extraction cycles.
Does the 13.2-liter boiler mean unlimited steam?
No. Boiler volume describes stored capacity, while heating power and recovery also affect sustained service. Repeated large pitchers and hot-water draws can place different demands on the same machine. Plan around the actual menu.
Can I use it in a trailer with limited electrical service?
Only after checking the exact machine configuration against the complete power system. This is not the lower-power one-group unit. A generator or shore-power connection must support all operating equipment and the required electrical characteristics.
Extraction and milk workflow
Are both shot timers included?
The group-level timers are included on this shot-timer configuration. Timers are described as optional across the general Boxer family, so confirm the order specification when comparing with another listing or used unit.
Does volumetric dosing eliminate the need for a scale?
No. It repeats programmed water delivery, not directly measured beverage mass. Use a scale when dialing in and checking recipes, particularly after changing coffee, dose or grind. Shot time is helpful feedback, but it is only one part of extraction quality.
Can both groups brew while the barista steams milk?
Yes, within the machine’s operating capacity. The commercial heat-exchange system supports concurrent use. Thermal recovery, supply conditions and the rest of the bar’s workflow still limit how many finished drinks can be served.
Can I set a different brewing temperature on each group?
No. The Boxer is not built around separate PID-controlled coffee boilers. Compare the R9 when group-specific temperature settings are required, or Doppia when separating the shared brew system from steam is sufficient.
Will a 16-ounce cup fit with a scale?
Check its measured height together with the scale and portafilter spouts. Cup volume does not establish height, and the nominal clearance is approximately 120mm. A smaller brewing vessel may still be the practical solution.
Are the steam wands safe to touch while steaming?
Cool-touch construction helps reduce heat exposure, but the tip and escaping steam remain hazardous. Train staff in proper handling and wipe milk residue promptly. Do not interpret the feature as a guarantee that every surface remains cold.
Installation and maintenance
What electrical connection does this Boxer need?
The listing specifies 220–240V commercial service and a 30A circuit, with the final phase and connector requiring confirmation. Have a qualified electrician use the supplied nameplate and installation documentation. Do not infer the correct receptacle from a retailer photograph.
Can it run from an internal reservoir?
No. This Boxer requires a treated direct-water supply and drain. A mobile supply needs the appropriate pressure, flow and approved components; it is not the same as an internal reservoir or the separate Boxer Tank model.
Does a second group provide a backup if the machine fails?
Not against every fault. Both groups share important systems, so a pump, main boiler or electrical problem may interrupt the whole station. Include service availability and a realistic contingency plan in the purchase decision.
How should staff clean the two-group Boxer?
Follow Rocket’s group-cleaning and rinsing routine for both positions, keep screens and baskets clean, and purge and wipe steam wands after milk use. Automatic backflush functions still require staff preparation and checks. Backflushing is not internal descaling.
Does the purchase include installation, training or grinders?
Only services and accessories expressly included in the written package are included. Agree on freight access, placement, utilities, commissioning and training before the opening date. Review the grinder and water-treatment budget separately from the machine price.
How do I arrange warranty service?
Use the support-ticket form with the order, model, serial number and relevant photos. The one-year warranty follows the linked commercial terms; labor, travel and installation are not automatically included in a parts-only arrangement. Obtain authorization before covered work or a return.
