The DF54 brings many of the practical features associated with larger Turin flat-burr grinders into a smaller and more affordable platform. Single Dosing in Everyday Use
The DF54 does not weigh beans or dispense a programmed dose. Use a coffee scale to weigh the beans for each drink.

Version 4.1 uses a metal declumper and a larger exit chute to improve grounds flow and make the chute easier to maintain. These changes address two of the most important service and workflow areas in earlier DF54 production.

Does the DF54 require RDT?

How do I keep the plasma anti-static system working properly?
Coffee dust can accumulate on the ion-generator probes and reduce their effectiveness. Periodically inspect and gently clean the chute and probes while the grinder is unplugged. Never introduce water into the chute, grinding chamber, motor or electrical components.
Should I hot-start the DF54?
Hot-starting means switching on the grinder before adding the beans. It can improve feeding consistency and reduce the chance of stalling when grinding dense, lightly roasted coffee at a fine espresso setting. Always make grind adjustments while the motor is running.
Will the DF54 work with my espresso machine and portafilter?
Yes. The adjustable support can accommodate many portafilters, and the included 58mm dosing cup is designed to transfer grounds cleanly into a standard 58mm basket. The included 58mm cup is not a fitted transfer cup for smaller 54mm or 51mm baskets. For those baskets, transfer the grounds using a suitable funnel or cup. You can use the grinder with different espresso-machine brands; direct portafilter fit depends on the handle and basket shape.
Does the DF54 need burr alignment?
Most customers should use the grinder normally before considering alignment. Factory alignment is generally sufficient for typical home espresso and filter use. Espresso Outlet does not perform custom burr alignment as part of the standard purchase.
Can 64mm SSP burrs be installed in the DF54?
No. The common 64mm SSP burr sets used in DF64 grinders are too large for the DF54. The DF54 requires compatible 54mm burrs, and its aftermarket selection is more limited than the 64mm platform.
How often should the DF54 be cleaned?
Cleaning frequency depends on usage, roast level and coffee oil. Inspect the chute when static or retention increases, grounds begin clumping, or output becomes inconsistent. Always unplug the grinder and use a dry brush or grinder-safe vacuum; do not place water inside the grinder.
