The Quick Mill Alexia Evo is a single-boiler E61 espresso machine for home baristas who prioritize espresso quality and want the ability to steam an occasional milk drink. Its PID with integrated shot timer, insulated 0.75-liter boiler, commercial-standard 58mm group, large reservoir, and articulated no-burn steam wand create a hands-on prosumer workflow in a relatively narrow footprint.

Best fit: espresso-first households making a few drinks at a time. A single boiler cannot brew and steam simultaneously, so customers preparing several lattes back to back should compare a heat-exchanger or dual-boiler machine.

Why the Alexia Evo is built around espresso

  • PID with shot timer: set brew temperature and monitor extraction time from the same display.
  • 58mm E61 group: provides a traditional lever-operated workflow and broad accessory compatibility.
  • Insulated 0.75-liter boiler: reduces heat loss and supports temperature-controlled brewing.
  • Three-liter reservoir: substantial water capacity without requiring plumbing.
  • Articulated no-burn steam wand: offers flexible pitcher positioning for occasional cappuccinos and lattes.
  • Vibration pump with Pulsar device: designed to reduce pump noise compared with an undampened installation.
  • Accessible expansion valve and boiler drain: useful for pressure adjustment, service, transport, and storage.

Single-boiler workflow: what to expect

The Alexia Evo brews espresso at one temperature range and steams milk at a higher temperature. For a milk drink, brew the espresso, switch to steam mode, allow the boiler to rise to steaming temperature, steam the milk, then cool and refill the boiler before returning to espresso temperature. That sequencing is simple for one or two drinks but slower than a machine with independent brew and steam systems.

For straight espresso, allow the E61 group to heat fully, weigh the dose and beverage yield, and use the PID as a repeatable starting point rather than treating one temperature as correct for every coffee. Adjust grind first, then refine ratio and temperature by taste.

Who should choose something else?

Choose a dual boiler or heat exchanger if simultaneous brewing and steaming is important. Choose an espresso-only machine if you never steam and want fewer components. Customers wanting a faster-heating, menu-driven appliance may prefer a modern saturated-group or thermoblock design instead of the thermal mass and manual ritual of an E61.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Alexia Evo brew and steam at the same time?

No. It is a single-boiler machine and must transition between brew and steam temperatures.

Is the Alexia Evo best for milk drinks?

It can steam milk well for occasional drinks, but frequent back-to-back lattes are easier on a heat exchanger or dual boiler.

Does it connect to a water line?

No. This model operates from its internal 3-liter reservoir.

Why does an E61 machine need warm-up time?

The heavy group must become thermally stable in addition to the boiler reaching its PID setpoint.

Note about water hardness

Using hard water will ruin your espresso machine. Soft water no higher than 50ppm is required to keep your espresso machine running for the long term. Using hard water will void the warranty.

Great Service! It has been a few months since I purchased my machine, but I absolutely love it. Initially I had some issues with damage from shipping, but Joe took care of it immediately so there were no problems. He also stayed on the phone with me for a long time the day I received my machine so I could get everything working properly. I highly recommend!
