Turin MC3 Espresso Machine with Touchscreen, PID and Dedicated Steam Boiler

The Turin MC3 is a compact 58mm semi-automatic espresso machine that combines a PTC-heated copper brew group and brew-water heating system with a dedicated 2.5-liter stainless steel steam and hot-water boiler. A full-color touchscreen centralizes brew temperature, pre-infusion, flow and standby settings, while independent systems allow espresso extraction and milk steaming at the same time.

Unlike a traditional E61 machine, the MC3 uses active group heating for faster response and a smaller physical platform. A flow meter enables programmed single- and double-shot volumes, and separate controls are provided for pre-infusion time, pre-infusion flow and extraction flow. It is aimed at buyers who want digital repeatability and substantial steam capacity without a classic E61 chassis.

Why Choose the Turin MC3?

Touchscreen recipe control

The circular color display provides brew temperature, shot volumes, pre-infusion settings, extraction flow, backflush mode and standby timing. Separate single- and double-shot parameters streamline a daily routine.

Actively heated copper brew group

A PTC heater helps the pure copper group retain temperature, while PID and NTC sensing manage the brew system. This architecture reduces the large thermal mass and long heat-soak associated with an E61 group.

Dedicated 2.5-liter steam boiler

The steam and hot-water boiler works independently, so milk can be textured during extraction. Espresso-only users can switch off the steam boiler to avoid heating it unnecessarily.

Flow meter and programmed output

Program single- and double-shot water delivery, or use manual mode with its shot timer. Volumetric control is a convenience, not a scale: beverage weight can change with grind, puck resistance and coffee age.

Reservoir or direct water connection

A manual selector switches between the 1.5-liter reservoir and a direct water source. Proper water treatment, pressure management and leak protection remain essential.

How the MC3 Brewing System Works

The MC3 separates brewing from steam production. Its actively heated group and brew-water path manage extraction, while the large boiler supplies steam and hot water. Leave steam off for straight espresso, or heat it for simultaneous extraction and milk texturing.

Begin with a weighed dose and yield, an espresso-capable grinder and conservative flow settings. Programmed volume improves convenience, but use a scale when exact beverage yield matters. Adjust grind before changing temperature, pre-infusion or flow. One change at a time makes the results easier to understand.

MC3 vs Legato V2 vs Gallatin V

These machines cover three different home-espresso workflows. The Legato V2 emphasizes compact value and hands-on control. The MC3 emphasizes touchscreen repeatability and a large dedicated steam boiler. The Gallatin V emphasizes the traditional E61 lever and heat-exchange experience.

Buying factor Legato V2 MC3 Gallatin V
Heating system 550ml brew boiler + steam thermoblock Actively heated copper group and brew-water system + 2.5 L steam boiler 2 L HX boiler + E61 group
Primary controls Dual PID settings, OPV and programmable pre-infusion Touchscreen recipes, volumetric doses, pre-infusion and flow settings E61 lever, PID, shot timer and group-pressure gauge
Milk workflow Compact thermoblock steaming Large dedicated 2.5 L steam reserve Strong simultaneous HX brewing and steaming
Warm-up style Compact and relatively quick Actively heated group without a full E61 chassis E61 group requires thorough heat saturation
Best reason to choose it Lowest cost and narrowest footprint Digital repeatability and substantial steam capacity Classic mechanical prosumer workflow
Main tradeoff Less steam reserve than the larger machines More screen-driven operation than buyers wanting a simple lever machine may prefer Longer warm-up and HX flushing routine

Which machine should you choose?

Choose the Legato V2 for compact value. Choose the MC3 for programmable touchscreen recipes and frequent milk drinks. Choose the Gallatin V for the traditional E61 lever workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MC3 a dual boiler machine?

It has independent brew and steam systems, but not two conventional boilers. Brewing uses an actively heated group and water-heating system; steam comes from a dedicated 2.5-liter boiler.

Can it brew and steam simultaneously?

Yes. The independent systems support brewing and steaming together.

Can I turn off the steam boiler?

Yes. It can be switched off for espresso-only use.

Does it use a 58mm portafilter?

Yes. A 58mm double-spout portafilter plus single and double baskets are included.

What can be programmed?

The interface controls brew temperature, pre-infusion time and flow, extraction flow, single/double output, backflush mode and standby settings.

Does it stop shots by weight?

No. The flow meter manages delivered water volume, not espresso weight in the cup.

Can it be plumbed in?

Yes. It switches between a 1.5-liter reservoir and direct water. Use treated water and follow installation instructions.

How large is the steam boiler?

The listed stainless steam and hot-water boiler capacity is 2.5 liters.

How much counter space is needed?

It is about 14.17 inches wide, 17.72 inches deep and 18.50 inches high. Allow extra operating and filling clearance.

Is a grinder included?

No. Use an espresso grinder with fine, repeatable adjustment.

What warranty is included?

A one-year Espresso Outlet warranty and support apply to units purchased from Espresso Outlet.

Is this the U.S. model?

Yes. This is the 120V, 1600W U.S. version and ships to U.S. addresses only.
