What TrueGrind actually helps with
Clive’s LUCCA setup guide explains that a sensor tracks burr spacing, the display shows a grind reference and TrueGrind suggests settings for a selected coffee and recipe. The user turns the grind knob. Guidance is not the same as a motor moving the burrs automatically, and it is not a scale weighing every dose.
Why that distinction matters
A recommended setting gives a starting point, not a guarantee that a coffee will be perfectly dialed on the first shot. Bean age, recipe and preparation still affect extraction. Time-based dosing also needs checking when the grind or coffee changes. Choose the LUCCA if you value recorded settings, recipe information and a hopper-based routine; do not buy it expecting the machine to taste the espresso for you.
What the Turin offers instead
The DF83V V3 provides an 83mm platform, 300–1,600 RPM control, an auger feed and plasma static reduction. You weigh beans, choose the setting and assess the result. That direct routine suits frequent switching between regular coffee, decaf and filter brewing, although it adds manual handling to every drink.
Taste and maintenance
LUCCA’s burrs and Turin’s selected burr option should be compared by their actual geometry and intended use. A larger nominal diameter does not establish a better flavor. Both require a clean grounds path; single dosing does not mean zero retention, and a hopper timer does not eliminate dose checks. Verify the current firmware and supported app functions if digital features influence your purchase.
The better fit
